What to know first
- First round ends 20 November 2026 at 17:00 Beijing time.
- Second round ends 28 February 2027 at 17:00 Beijing time.
- Design/Fine Arts and the THU-CUHK economics dual degree have round restrictions.
Choose the route before choosing a round
Most undergraduate programmes are taught in Chinese and English, while selected named programmes are taught in English. Use the international admissions divisions page and programme notices to identify the route you actually want. A general university major list does not by itself confirm that a route is available to you.
Before preparing an application, make a one-page programme record: official title, division or college, teaching language, expected qualification evidence and notice link. If you are comparing two options, keep two records. This prevents a requirement from one route being silently carried into the other.

Read the 2027 round calendar carefully
The first round runs from 30 September 2026 at 08:00 to 20 November 2026 at 17:00. The second runs from 21 November 2026 at 08:00 to 28 February 2027 at 17:00. These times are Beijing time.
Design and Fine Arts in the Arts Division are available only in the first round. The THU-CUHK dual degree in Economics is available only in the second. For any named programme, also open its own current guide before treating the general calendar as sufficient.
Check eligibility before assembling the final application
The eligibility page requires a high school qualification obtained through full-time, in-person education and sets out nationality documentation. Read the linked nationality instructions where relevant to your circumstances rather than assuming that holding a foreign passport settles every question.
Language evidence depends on the route. The Chinese-English route specifies HSK 5 or higher, with scores above 60 in each listed section, subject to stated waiver arrangements. The English-taught route requires English proficiency and does not require Chinese proficiency proof. Always check the named programme guide as well.

Organize documents around what they establish
Group your materials by purpose: academic preparation, language ability, applicant eligibility and supporting experience. Within each group, check that names and dates agree across documents. Use the official upload list for the actual submission requirements.
When the university gives examples of accepted academic evidence, do not interpret every example as a separate mandatory test. Work out which evidence applies to your qualification and read any route-specific directions. If a document will be unavailable before submission, investigate the official instructions before assuming a substitute is allowed.

Prepare for assessment as well as submission
Tsinghua's process includes document screening and comprehensive assessment. Submitting a complete file is one stage of selection. Keep your application record accessible so that you can explain the academic choices and experiences you have presented.
A useful preparation exercise is to discuss one subject you have explored in depth, explain what you learned and identify what you would like to study next. That exercise helps you articulate your interests; it should not be mistaken for an official question list or a promise about the assessment format.
